Whenever i am in the country, far from the lights of a city, I take the opportunity to gaze into the night sky. Always I am amazed at the vast amount of twinkling lights, beyond number. This past weekend my husband and I camped with friends near Manistee National forest. One night the four of us lay on the ground for awhile just staring up into the cosmos.
What our human eyes can see of the universe is like a drop of water in an ocean. The size of the universe is beyond our comprehension.
But the most amazing truth is that the creator of ALL that exists cares about us! And He is even concerned with the smallest of details!
This goes against our human way of thinking. Anything that is huge takes no notice of minuscule things. Is an elephant aware of the existence of a tiny ant? More than likely, a rich man wouldn't dirty his fingers to pick up a coin in the street.
But the Bible contains many verses that go against our natural world to describe God's concern for us:
"what are human beings, that you think of them;
mere mortals, that you care for them?" ~ Psalm 8:4
These truths humble me and cause me to ask: "God, how do I respond to such great love?"
My heart's desire is to please Him who loves me so intensely,
but in my own strength I fail every day!
Thankfully my loving Father knows that I am weak, that is why He has offered me the gift of His Holy Spirit.
"Through the power of the Holy Spirit, who lives in us, keep the good things that have been entrusted to you." ~ 2 Timothy 1:14
When I allow the Spirit to work through me, my minuscule light is able to reflect Him into our dark world.
"Look up at the sky!
Who created the stars you see?
The one who leads them out like an army,
he knows how many there are
and calls each one by name!
His power is so great—
not one of them is ever missing!"
Who created the stars you see?
The one who leads them out like an army,
he knows how many there are
and calls each one by name!
His power is so great—
not one of them is ever missing!"
~Isaiah 40:26

" He created all things in heaven and
on earth,
visible and
invisible.
Whether
they are kings or lords,
rulers
or powers—
everything has been created through him and for
him.
He existed before everything"
~Luke 12:7

"Aren’t five sparrows sold for two cents? God doesn’t forget any of them. Even
every hair on your head has been counted. Don’t be afraid! You are worth more
than many sparrows." ~ Luke 12:6-7

"You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book."
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book."
~Psalm 56:8

"... O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God"

to do what is right, to love mercy,
