"Grandchildren are the crowning glory of the aged..."
~ Proverbs 17:6
I really don't consider myself aged, but I am a grandmother. I've only been one for about a week and a half, but I can already tell that there is no joy like it on earth. There I was holding the tiny baby that came from the body of one I birthed twenty some years ago;
the circle of life.
Amazing to me was the instant love I felt for the newborn babe. She is so tiny and helpless. I would die for her in an instant even though she can't even comprehend who I am.
The agape love that I have for her is similar to the love our Abba has for us. There is nothing we can do for Him, we are helpless in so many ways, yet His love for us is beyond understanding.
I enjoy spending time with my little grand baby, watching her facial expressions as she dreams. When she wakes, I hold her close and look into her eyes hoping to convey that she is safe and deeply loved.
This helps me to understand a little more why our God enjoys spending time with us. We don't have much to offer, but He is pleased when we take the time to sit in His presence to just be still and let His love speak to our hearts.
No matter how aged we become, life continues to open our eyes to understand just a bit more the One who created us then gave His life for us.

But the love of the Lord remains forever
with those who fear him.
His salvation extends to the children’s
children
