...desire...

"For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him." - Philippians 2:13

I want to please God because I desire it

because of the love and grace He has shown me

Not out of duty, fear or guilt.

This is my prayer... that will God will work that desire in me...to please him.

The nature of sin inside of me desires to protect, please and defend myself.

Not at all like my savior

who gave up his glory and became a servant to his own creation

And even when he was accused during his trial

He didn't defend Himself!

I believe he did this out of love for us.

If Jesus would have defended himself before his accusers

maybe they wouldn't have crucified him.

But Christ's desire was to become the payment for our sin.

The defense of his innocense was not his priority

But instead...his love for us was of utmost importance.

We needed saving and He was willing to to do just that

even though it cost him more than we can fathom.

And that is the reason I pray...

for any desire that is in me to please him

to grow and overshadow my selfish desires.
